Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of beforethejob.app (the "Service"). By creating an account, browsing the Service, or submitting any content, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service.

The Service is intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are using the Service for lawful, personal purposes related to evaluating employers, managers, and compensation.

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

The Service allows users to submit manager reviews, job offer details, ratings, and related content ("User Content"). You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit. By submitting User Content, you confirm that it reflects your own genuine experience or information you have a good-faith basis to believe is accurate, and that you have the right to share it.

beforethejob.app is a platform for hosting and organizing User Content, not its author or speaker. We do not independently investigate, fact-check, or verify the truth of opinions, experiences, or factual claims submitted by users, and publishing or displaying User Content does not mean we endorse, adopt, or vouch for it.

Manager reviews are designed to be submitted anonymously. We do not display a reviewer's name, account, or identifying details on public review content. We may still collect limited account, device, or verification information internally to support trust, moderation, and abuse prevention, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Manager reviews concern a named individual's workplace conduct and management style in a professional capacity. Reviews must reflect honest opinions and personal experiences rather than statements presented as objective fact about matters the reviewer cannot support. The Service displays compensation information sourced from anonymous user submissions and public wage data. Compensation figures, including totals, ranges, and percentiles, are estimates derived from available submissions and may not reflect current, complete, or individualized compensation. See our Compensation Data Disclaimer.

Some compensation records originate from publicly available U.S. Department of Labor wage filings. These records are clearly labeled as public wage data where shown and may not include bonus, equity, benefits, signing bonus, relocation assistance, or other components of total compensation.

The Service uses automated systems, including AI models, to generate summaries, offer briefs, negotiation suggestions, and draft messages. AI generated output is based on the data available to it and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. AI output is informational only. See our AI Disclaimer.

By using the Service, you agree that you will:

• Submit content that reflects your honest, personal experience or information you have a good-faith basis to believe is true.
• Not submit false statements of fact about any person or company.
• Not use the Service to harass, threaten, or retaliate against any individual.
• Not attempt to circumvent moderation, verification, or anonymity protections.
• Comply with applicable law in connection with your use of the Service.

You may not submit content that:

• Contains threats, harassment, or incitement to violence.
• Discloses private personal information, including home addresses, phone numbers, or financial account details.
• Discloses or speculates about another person’s medical or health information.
• Attacks a person based on a protected characteristic, including race, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or similar status.
• Makes an unsupported accusation of criminal conduct.
• Is sexually explicit, defamatory, or knowingly false.
• Impersonates another person or entity, or is submitted on behalf of someone else without their permission.
• Discloses a company’s confidential or trade secret information.
• Constitutes spam or unauthorized advertising.

We may review, edit, restrict, decline to publish, remove, or otherwise moderate any User Content at our discretion, with or without notice, including content that we believe violates these Terms, creates legal or safety risk, or undermines trust in the Service. We may display aggregate patterns, structured ratings, or AI generated summaries in place of raw text we decline to publish. See our Content Moderation Policy.

Individuals identified on a manager profile may request to claim that profile through our verification process. Claimed managers may respond to general trends reflected in their profile but may not contact, identify, or attempt to identify anonymous reviewers, and may not demand removal of a review solely because they disagree with it. Anyone who believes content on the Service is false, violates these Terms, or infringes their rights may submit a report through our Takedown and Dispute Policy process. We review reports and may take a range of actions, including no action, edits, removal, or escalation for legal review.

The Service is an informational tool. Nothing on the Service constitutes employment, legal, financial, tax, or career advice, and nothing on the Service should be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Decisions about employment, compensation negotiation, or legal matters are your own responsibility.

User Content, compensation data, public wage data, and AI generated output are provided "as is." We do not verify the accuracy of most submissions and make no guarantee that any information on the Service is complete, current, or accurate.

The Service, including its design, software, text, graphics, and branding (excluding User Content and third-party data), is owned by beforethejob.app or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as permitted by these Terms.

By submitting User Content, you grant beforethejob.app a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, summarize, and create aggregate or AI generated derivative summaries of that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service. You retain ownership of your User Content.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, including for violation of these Terms, suspected abuse, or fraudulent activity. You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time through your account settings.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BEFORETHEJOB.APP AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT, COMPENSATION DATA, OR AI GENERATED OUTPUT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless beforethejob.app and its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
